Character Creation Rules
Revised as of April 15th, 2012
Revised as of April 15th, 2012
+ Character must be from/based on an established “Anime”. No “Any anime with such and such” or Anime-esque universe you yourself made up.
+ DO NOT copy/paste from Wikipedia or other such sites.
+ Valid Crossovers are acceptable. Acceptability will be determined by if the crossover makes any sense, works in the spirit of the site, etc by Staff Digression.
+ No Spinoffs will be accepted. You may not take a canon from a side-series or non-anime universe and shove them into an anime.
+ Character must actually FIT into the series (within reason). For example, an OC based solely on Naruto may not be an alien or half demon as those do not exist canonly.
Edit May 20th: To give a more clear example of what we mean by "fit", we refer to the use of Tie-Ins to the actual canon universe. We should be able to picture your character existing naturally. Mention the canon environment, events going on in the series timeline that affected life for your OC, etc.
+ If Staff finds a profile unacceptable feel free to make necessary corrections and call staff back to recheck.
+ All profiles 2 two stamps of approval from staff to be accepted.
+ Pictures used for profiles must at least be “animated” style.
+ Unfinished Profiles without a post or Edit in the last 2 weeks will be moved to the "Abandoned" profiles board. If you intend to still work on it, let staff know and it will be reactivated.
+ Please avoid OCs that have an automatic attachment to a canon character that would mess with the natural timeline of the canon's origin. For example, a canon's significant other (especially if it substitutes your OC in place of a canon gf/bf), sibling with no prior mention of (especially if canon is stated to be an only child), or child from some non-canon pairing.
+The staff retains the right to reject even Canon characters of extreme power, if the individual in question already has an incredibly powerful Canon (or original) character, or if the character is deemed of such high power that it cannot be entrusted to a player due to concern of abuse (an example of such a character being Ajimu from Medaka Box) (Effective as of July 9, 2014)
Because the definition of “Anime” is so broad, we have set up a system to somewhat limit what qualifies for the sake of this site. In order to be considered, the anime you've chosen has to meet at LEAST any three of these requirements:
- Has a Manga, Visual Novel, or Video Game attached to it
- Television Aired series
- Series in Question should not be Episodic (episodic is when virtually every episode in the series had no effect on the others, with no major plot progression. “Family Guy” is a good example of this)
- Preferably Japan-produced, not American-Produced.
- Obviously enough, the show must actually be animated
This list is subject to change as staff and board members see fit.
Edit July 8th 2014: Introduced new rule regarding staff rights to reject Canon characters.
