Name: Matthew Hazeman
Age: 167 years
Gender: Male
Race: Human-Form Homunculus - To make a long story short, Matt has replaced his normal, human body with an entirely new one made out bio-mechanical circuitry that's based off of his own DNA.
Anime: Buso Renkin
Canon?: No.
Appearance: Matt is a big guy. He outright towers over most people, and has a rather broad physique to match. However, despite the fact that he is indeed stronger than just about any normal person, he doesn't really have a lot of muscle definition or tone. His height isn't the only thing that makes him stand out, though. Matt's got very light blonde hair. In fact, it's almost white when you catch it in the right light. He generally doesn't bother with really styling it, instead choosing to simply let it do as it will. The one eye that Matt still has is a bright, vivid green in color, and always seems to have a slight spark of amusement within it.
In addition, Matt has a lot of scars. There's the remains of the burn that took his eye on the left side, claw scars on his face from one of his brawls with an animal-form Homunculus, a small nick on his throat from a particularly violent barfight, a trail of tentacle marks on his upper right arm, and a large bitemark on his left forearm. The most obvious scar of them all though is his missing eye. There's literally nothing in his left eye socket. Thankfully, he keeps it covered with a green silk eyepatch most of the time, sparing people from looking at it. The last thing significant about Matt's appearance is the symbol that's formed on his chest, a pair of overlapping teardrops that mark all Homunculi created by the same branch of alchemy that created the Kakugane.
Weapons: Buso Renkin of the Rainbow Fist - As a Human-Form Homunculus, Matt can make use of Kakugane to form Buso Renkin, alchemical weapons with near-magical powers. In his case, his Kakugane turns into a matched pair of silver gauntlets, each with a large gemstone set in the back of it. The Gemstone changes color frequently, cycling through the colors of the rainbow in the order of Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet. Until Matt uses their powers, though, that is all that really seems spectacular about the gauntlets.
Paintball Pellets - One of the few things Matt truly understands (or at least partially understands) in the modern world, Matt has taken to carrying around a couple of bandoliers filled with these things, in all the colors of the rainbow. While they can hurt people when propelled by his sheer strength, the real purpose he carries them is to get paints of a certain color on people for the purposes of his Buso Renkin.
History: Matt was born in 1889 in Ireland to an extremely poor family. It was a miserable time, with Matt being forced to work in a factory in Dublin to help support his family. Even then, it wasn't enough, and eventually his parents were forced to give him to an orphanage when he was just 6.
And that's when his life took a radical change. A group of Homunculi had been using the orphanage as a long-standing source of both sustenance and potential Familiars. Matt caught the eye of Lady Sevensins, one of the most powerful members of the group, when he accidentally beat one of the other orphans to death while trying to stop a group of them from stealing food from him. The Lady saw potential in him, and convinced the rest of the group that he would be a valuable asset if they took him in and gave him a proper training. So they took him in, training him in a wide variety of weapons and fighting styles, slowly working to train him as a potent Familiar.
The years rolled by, with Matt proving himself as every bit the valuable asset that the Lady said he could be. Roughly 6 years into his time as a Familiar, the Homunculi decided that he was finally trustworthy and competent enough to equip with a Kakugane and send against their foes, whether they were other Homunculi or the occasional Alchemist Warrior. It was the boy's first real taste of power, though he knew that it paled in comparison to that of his masters, it was still exhilarating. It was that moment that finally settled for him that being a servant wasn't enough. He wanted to call his own shots, to chart his own course. And so, after four more years of piecing together information, of using his execution operations to clandestinely gather alchemic research on the process of becoming a homunculus, of preparing his embryo, he broke away from the group he was a Familiar to.
To say that his attempt ended horrifically would be an understatement. Lady Sevensins personally hunted him down and beat him to a bloody pulp, burning out his eye with her own Buso Renkin. The only thing that saved him was the fact that their battle collapsed the abandoned castle he had adopted has his hiding place on top of him and the embryo. He's not entirely sure what happened after that. All that he knows is that his embryo somehow got to him, even though it wasn't fully completed. He knows that he spent a long time asleep and unaware underneath the rubble. And he knows that the world has changed quite a bit. Now, all he really wants to do is try and find out more about this mad new world, and survive the craziness that is currently going on in it.
Personality: Matt doesn't quite have the personality that most people would expect from what is essentially a century-old monster. He really does seem to be a rather nice, congenial guy. The reason for this is because he mostly is a nice, congenial guy. He just has to eat people at times is all. He's quick to make jokes, and doesn't really seem to not get along with most people. Beyond this though is his own ego, his desire to be better than others, to enjoy lording over other people. Making jokes at other's expense is simply one way that he can get away with it, one that presents no danger or rebuttal in most cases, and one that most people don't really see a problem in.
That being said, Matt's not exactly the brightest of people. Outside of combat situations and matters relating to biology and organic chemistry, most people can safely say he's a full-fledged moron. And even in combat, while he can prove a canny and cagey opponent, he often underestimates his opponents, especially if they're "stupid, simple humans". This has lead him to troublesome situations in the past, and almost certainly will as he continues to fight.
Of course, there are some slight issues arising from just how out of touch he is with the modern world. For one, he finds the lack of religious influence in life now quite frankly astounding. In addition, he's confused by "simple" things that modern people take for granted, like cars or the internet. In fact, just about the only thing he seems to understand in the modern world is the more advanced biological developments that have become widely understood, but that's only because he had a headstart on them thanks to his alchemic research. So it's really not uncommon for him to not get standard cultural references, or even some historical events.
Attacks: Rainbow Fist - When his Buso Renkin is active, Matt can transfer the force of his touch, whether it's a punch or a simple caress, through the colors of the rainbow. So long as he can clearly see the color, he can make use of this ability, and physically interact with whatever has that color as if his hands were there. The downside is that he can only use this ability based on the color of the gemstones on his gauntlets. Still, it's quite a versatile ability regardless of this, and one that Matt proudly considers his ace-in-the-hole.
Regeneration - As a Homunculus, Matt has a significant regeneration factor. In fact, his regenerative abilities are so potent, mundane attacks either rebound as if they had no effect (due to his regenerative capabilities actually pushing slower-moving weapon out of the wound near-istantly) or pass right through him without even seeming to phase him (as Matt's flesh simply re-forms behind quickly-moving projectile as it passes through him). However, any type of magic can stunt this regeneration and even kill him, though he will still recover from any non-fatal wounds if given a couple hours of rest. FMA-style alchemy used directly upon his body and Buso Renkin also bypass his regeneration in the same way. But aside from that, he's practically invulnerable, as even what would be normally fatal wounds are near-instantly regenerated.
Enhanced Homunculus Physiology - Another gift of his change into a Homunculus, Matt has greatly enhanced speed and strength. He can easily lift up to 2 and a half tons, and maxes out at roughly 4 tons with extreme effort. In addition, Matt can easily keep up with objects moving at roughly 100 miles per hour when he runs, and can move even faster if he begins to exert himself. In addition, Matt has monumental amounts of stamina, and is nigh-immune to poisons and diseases.
Friends/Family: None still alive. Well, none that he would consider friends, at least.
RP Sample: There were some things that would never change throughout history, as far as Matt was concerned. Three particular examples stood out in his mind at that moment. One: Bars would never run out of business. Two: There would always, always be people who didn't fully have their wits about them upon leaving a bar. Three: Homunculi could get some easy pickings if they hung around outside a bar, and then lured someone away to a nice, quiet location.
Now, normally Matt wouldn't care about that. Hell, he'd even participated in that formula a time or two to get Lady Sevensins and the rest of the Troupe their experimental supplies, or when luring a Homunculus into a trap so he could kill it. However, this time, he was a bit less than thrilled with the process. Why, you ask? Well, because he was the one on the receiving end of it, of course.
What hat happened was simple. He had been enjoying a night out on the town, drinking to his heart's content, and trying his best to ignore those strange magic boxes that had tiny little men playing all sorts of games inside of them. Then, when he had walked outside after ingesting enough booze to knock out the average cow, he had heard someone asking for help from an alleyway. Now, it would certainly be impolite to ignore something like that, especially from such a feminine sounding voice! So, needless to say, Matt had strolled right in, and then next thing he knew, he was waist deep in webbing and being dragged off by some spider Homunculus she-witch.
Really, it was enough to make anyone annoyed. The Spider-woman was still dragging him along the ground, now in some warehouse district, and she was actively salivating. Still, it wasn't like the human-form Homunculus was actually concerned or anything. He had already tested out the webbing some, and knew that when push came to shove, he could break it. The only reason he hadn't already was because he had some questions for the creature. After all, Homunculi didn't just appear out of thin air, which meant that someone else in town was potentially threatening his safety and anony- anona- ... Lack of people knowing-ness. And the more he could figure out about that, the better. Particularly if he could find out exactly where that problem was, and kill it before any Alchemists, or worse, other Homunculi came to investigate.
So after waiting a while longer of waiting, Matt would clear his throat politely to get the woman's attention. "'Scuse me, lassie. Perhaps ye could sate me curiosity at this point in time, hmmm?" he would say, a thick Scottish accent covering his language. "Could ya perhaps tell me where yer takin' me to be eaten?"
The Spider-woman would stop at that point, hissing slightly. She would walk towards the wrapped-up "drunk" then, the part of her face that was still mostly human aggravated. She would admit a low clicking sound, leaning down towards him. "Ah, you seem to be a smart one, boy. But a lady never tells, no?"
Matt rolled his eye at that. "Aye, because a lady has eight legs and spinnerets, right Lassie?" The other Homunculus would growl slightly at that, lifting up her hand to strike her seemingly helpless captive, a motion that would certainly look threatening to anyone that happened to be passing by.
