Name: Misogi Kumagawa
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Anime: Medaka Box
Canon?: Yes. I wish to use the version of Kumagawa after Ajimu is killed but before his All Fiction skill is upgraded to include “Non Fiction.”
Appearance:
Kumagawa stands at an average height for a boy his age. Though he is slightly shorter than other males of similar age, it would be inaccurate to label him as “short.” Kumagawa has black hair and a slender build with no noticeable markings, scars, tattoos or anything that really sets him apart. Perhaps the most unique feature of Kumagawa’s is his permanent smile that is etched across his face. He wears a black school uniform possessing gold colored buttons, long sleeves, and collar that completely encircles his neck.
Weapons: Kumagawa uses large screws that he can seemingly spawn at will in his hands or in the environment around him. Each of Kumagawa’s screws is a Philips screw with a ‘+’ on the top. Kumagawa is very proficient at wielding his screws as he can throw them with frightening accuracy as well as engage in close quarters combat with them in his hands. He maintains minor control even of screws he is not holding since he can command them to grow and lengthen significantly on command.
History: Kumagawa is a very disturbed individual who was never particularly good at anything. As a child he went to Hakoniwa General Hospital which helped test for Abnormalities. Being an abnormal, Kumagawa felt he didn’t wish to undergo any sort of testing or treatment that was regulation for abnormals like him, so upon meeting the doctor, Hitomi Hitoyoshi, he asked her to mark him down as normal so as not to worry his parents. Attempting to bribe the doctor did not work, so he revealed that he knew her son and asked if he could be his “friend” in the instance he was hospitalized. Realizing the threat this carried, Hitomi was left with no choice but to mark Kumagawa down as normal.
With no treatment, Kumagawa was left to grow into a twisted individual with a dark, distorted personality. Kumagawa fell off the radar until he showed up and took control of Hakobune Middle School as its Student Council President, strangely enough with a 0% approval rating. By using Kouki Akune, The Destroyer, to get rid of students that opposed him, Kumagawa maintained a firm grasp of the student body. However, when Medaka Kurokami converted Kouki Akune, it inevitably led to a fight that culminated with Kumagawa viciously attacking his vice-president Ajimu, the one who was responsible for making him president in the first place. Kumagawa’s reasoning for this was that he wished to confirm his feelings of love for her. Worried that he only loved her for her looks, he ripped her face off so that he could confirm his feelings. This drove Medaka Kurokami into a rage where she beat Kumagawa until he begged her to stop. He left the school afterwards never to return.
Personality: Kumagawa is described as a “Born Loser who failed at everything, who lost to everyone at everything, which in turn made him stronger than everyone.” He is a very complicated and disturbed person who is used to losing. His victories are empty, as he always looks as the glass half empty while maintaining an innocence to any action he takes. He is capable of making others feel awful simply by talking to them. He does not understand or try to understand others’ feelings, instead ignoring the emotions of others altogether. He wears a smile constantly, grinning even as he kills people. Medaka describes him as “A compulsive liar who doesn’t ever say anything truthful.”
Kumagawa’s ability to break others’ hearts is not to be taken lightly. Using a single sentence he causes an entire crowd to collapse from heartbreak, albeit comedically. He has also demonstrated quite a perverted side having an infatuation with girls wearing nothing but aprons as well as a hand bra jeans fad that he went through.
Attacks:
All Fiction - Kumagawa’s signature ability is All Fiction, or as he puts it, the ability to turn reality into nothing. Kumagawa has stated that the only real drawback of his ability is that once he removes something, he cannot return it; as it has become “Fiction.” This includes, but is not limited to things such as his death, events resulting in his injury, a person’s senses, a person’s memories, another person entirely, color, physical objects, his own aura or presence, and even aspects of another person’s powers. Kumagawa’s ability is shown to effect the entire universe equally, for example when Kumagawa erased the color blue from existence, blue ceased to exist everywhere permanently. Blue was simply made to have never existed at all.
Book Maker - Kumagawa’s original ability is called Book Maker. To use it he must first create a screw that is different from his others in that the head possesses a ‘-’ instead of a ‘+’. Typically the screw lengthens to be around the length of a sword, and if he can stab another person with it, then he and his opponent will be made equal. Their body, spirit, technique, intellect, and talent all fall to match Kumagawa’s own. This also causes the victim’s hair to take on a pale, white hue. Despite the fact that Kumagawa must stab a person with such a long, intimidating screw, it doesn’t seem to inhibit the victim at all and doesn’t leave a wound if Kumagawa ends the technique. As Kumagawa is beaten and weakened, his opponent will be brought even further down to constantly match his level.
April Fiction - This skill of Kumagawa’s was born to him by combining his “All Fiction” with Ajimu’s “Unskilled” which she gave to him after her death. It allows him to use All Fiction like normal, but anything he makes not exist returns after 3 minutes.
Friends/Family:
Ajimu Najimi aka Anshinin-san - She was Kumagawa’s vice-president in his time at Hakobune Middle School. He ripped her face off to make sure that he didn’t only love her for her looks, however Ajimu is a figure who defies death and exists on a level beyond human. She has a total of 12,858,051,967,633,865 different skills, many of which make All Fiction look like a mere parlor trick. She is capable of time travel, living forever, negating any ability used on her and creating life. Ajimu actually states that roughly 1/10 of the people in the world are actually her. She and Kumagawa have a complicated relationship. After she lets Kumagawa tear her face off, she decides to simply hang around inside Kumagawa’s heart to meet him every time he dies before his All Fiction can revive him. Because of this he has come to regard her with extreme hatred. When she is killed by Ihiko she gives Kumagawa her ability “Unskilled” via a prerecorded message she left inside his heart, presumably left because she knew of her death before it happened. This is what allowed him to learn April Fiction.
RP Sample: Ezumachi Fude-kun, also known as Color of Beauty had returned to Fishtank Academy just as Kumagawa was settling in as the President. According to his secretary, Saki Sukinasaki, he left after getting expelled by the previous president, but was back now that Kumagawa had taken over. While this normally wouldn’t have even made it onto Kumagawa’s radar, Ezumachi had made the mistake of changing the color of his lovely, surgical mask-wearing secretary’s hair. So he met Ezumachi in the art room just as Ezumachi all but finished a beautiful painting of Aki Jakago, the previous student council president.
“Hello, Student Council President Kumagawa, nice to meet you” said Ezumachi as he turned away from his massive painting, pointing his paintbrush in the black-haired individual’s direction, “I am Ezumachi Fude, a loner.”
“Hello, Ezumachi-kun. Who is that?” Kumagawa said with an innocent smile as he nodded to the painting behind Ezumachi.
“The previous student council president whom you destroyed,” replied Ezumachi, sounding slightly solemn.
“I destroyed her? Oh… That means she probably suffered a great deal,” said Kumagawa maintaining his smile without so much as a care.
“But wait!” Sukinasaki chimed in through her surgical mask as she held a beanie hat down over her bright hair, “Why would you paint a picture of someone who had you kicked out? And it’s so beautiful.”
“I wasn’t expelled from this school. I chose to leave because I didn’t wish to interfere with her work,” came the reply as he turned to add some additional touches to the painting.
“Oh, how lovely,” came Kumagawa’s voice, nearly interrupting Ezumachi, “A touching story.” There was almost sarcasm dripping from the black-haired boy’s voice as he was interrupted by his assistant.
“Um, you don’t have enough facts to draw conclusions!” she said, hoping to control the impolite Kumagawa before he said something offensive.
It did little to deter Kumagawa though as he tossed a screw right at the painting, hitting it off-center right to the left of Ezumachi in Jakago’s bosom. “But, if memory serves me, I screwed her good. Just like so…”
“Wait, Kumagawa-kun, what are you doing? That was really mean.” piped up Sukinasaki with a worried tone.
“Come on Saki-chan… he ruined your hair, which is also my hair, but you’re defending him?” said the president, pointing up at her head with a smug grin.
“My hair isn’t yours!” she said pulling the hat on to her head tighter, as if to hide the brightly colored mess that Ezumachi had made on her head. The two were interrupted by the sound of paper ripping and they looked over back at Ezumachi to see he had made a large X-shaped tear in his own masterpiece with a painting chisel.
“This is art,” he said, looking at the painting, “Do you understand? You may have damaged my painting, but I damaged her. Artistically!!!” With the final word, Ezumachi threw a barrage of painting chisels in Kumagawa’s direction, stabbing him all over his body and sending him flying a few meters back. Kumagawa slumped to the ground as Ezumachi looked over him with a face of contempt.
Suddently, Kumagawa chimed in with a cheerfully mocking voice, “Oi oi, that isn’t going to work.” The student council president stood up without the use of his arms like something straight out of a horror film. A twisted smile spread across his face as Saki Sukinasaki trembled in the background. “You have to properly aim,” he said as he removed one of the painting chisels from his chest, “For a vital spot” With that he shoved the painting chisel into his own face, his grin widening as if he felt no pain whatsoever.
Ezumachi was surprised, but even more surprised when he turned around and noticed that all the damage that had been done to his painting was gone. “So that is All Fiction, the skill that destroyed Jakago-san,” he thought, “The skill that can undo everything.” As Ezumachi looked back at Kumagawa, he would find the boy standing, grinning, completely unharmed.
“But it’s nothing to fear,” continued Ezumachi, making yet another move this time holding a canister of pink paint in his hand, “Not in that color!” Instantly, before Kumagawa realized anything, his black school uniform was turned entirely pink. A blank expression of slight surprise and confusion found its way onto the student council president’s face as he looked over his altered clothing. “Someone in that color can never be intimidating, no matter what performance they put on” explained Ezumachi with a confident grin.
“Color of Beauty!” exclaimed Saki Sukinasaki as she recognized Ezumachi’s technique.
“I get it! This attacks and reduces my dignity,” exclaimed Kumagawa with an unworried smile, “However, it won’t work if I remove my clothes, silly.” In a flash, Kumagawa unbuttoned his shirt and cast it aside, revealing a plain white undershirt and two screws, one in each hand. He then proceeded to charge at Ezumachi, pointing each of the long metal objects in the artist’s direction.
“I’ll spare you the red, Kumagawa-kun,” said Ezumachi as he revealed a canister of blue paint in his hands, “Color of Beauty.” Instantly, just like last time, the color hit Kumagawa like a freight train, covering his flesh this time in blue splotches and stopping him mid-charge. Groaning and pained, Kumagawa fell to the ground unable to even utter a word as his eyes rolled back into his head.
“Kumagawa-kun!” yelled Sukinasaki as she ran to his side noticing the blue splotches covering his body, “Wh-What? What did he do to you? Those bruises are horrible! But he can use All Fiction to undo them.”
“That’s impossible,” blurted Ezumachi, “They aren’t bruises, just color, Sukinasaki-san. I merely added some color to his body. I never hit him, meaning he never sustained any damage. He cannot undo what doesn’t exist, correct? Color can control emotion. Kumagawa-kun’s senses interpreted the blue as bruises, controlling his emotions, and causing him non-actual damage. If All Fiction can undo anything, I simply must create a nonexistent lie.” With his monologue nearly complete, Ezumachi spoke to the unconscious Kumagawa, “Kumagawa Misogi. You were a bigger loser than I expected.”
- - - After School - - -
“You look relaxed, Kumagawa,” came a tomboyish voice from nearby as Kumagawa was jostled awake. From his spot on the couch, Kumagawa looked over to see Sukinasaki without her surgical mask covering her mischievous shark-like teeth and wickedly evil smile. Her hair also seemed to be back to normal, taking on a dark mahogany color. Saki-chan… What happened afterward? Looks like your hair’s back to normal.”
“Your bruises and uniform are also back to normal. Seems his skill doesn’t last forever,” she replied casually, grinning like the conniving devil she truly was.
“Oh? I’m going to see Ezumachi-kun then” stated Kumagawa as he stood up with a blank grin on his face.
“Huh? Forget it, Kumagawa. Make yourself scarce. I’ll deal with him,” she said, nonchalantly advising against Kumagawa’s decision.
Ignoring Sukinasaki’s words completely Kumagawa put his uniform back on and spoke. “If he’s able to control color, he could change a girl’s panties to whatever color he likes. I cannot allow that. Panties are attractive because girls choose the colors themselves. I cannot allow that guy to force his preferences on others. I don’t know much about justice, morals, righteousness, or compassion, but when it comes to the color of panties in the world, no one person should make all the decisions. That much I do know. So I shall act.” After giving his inspired, heartfelt speech about panties, Kumagawa left to find Ezumachi. He walked with Sukinasaki, who had put her surgical mask back on, through hallways filled with colored windows, over brightly colored floors and past drinking fountains that spewed orange water. It seemed Ezumachi was having a field day with coloring. The school itself looked like one big stained-glass window. Finally the two found Ezumachi outside in the middle of painting a portrait of the school itself in the colorful state he made it to be.
“Didn’t you two learn your lesson the first time?” stated Ezumachi with a bored expression.
“I’m the student council president. I can’t stand by and watch the school be defaced,” explained Kumagawa with a slightly sinister grin, “technically, you are a reinstated student. So I’m willing to negotiate. I won’t ask about the drama that occurred between you and Jakago-san. It’s irrelevant, after the chromatic terrorism you’ve engaged in for your own recreation. This isn’t art. It’s a prank.” Ezumachi exhaled sharply, twitching his eye, obviously annoyed at this remark. “So, Ezumachi-kun…” continued Kumagawa, “If you grant me the right to choose the color of panties across the world, as student council president I’ll allow you to paint the school as you please!”
“That’s despicable! You’re contradicting yourself!” blurted Sukinasaki as she took a step backwards in disbelief.
Ezumachi didn’t respond, instead taking action by mixing black paint with white paint on his palette. This resulted in Kumagawa’s uniform turning into a gray color. Ezumachi followed this up by throwing a painting chisel at Kumagawa, hitting his newly gray uniform, shattering it as if it was made out of glass or ceramic.
“He changed his uniform to a brittle gray, so it would shatter!” exclaimed Sukinasaki as she observed the development, “That means he’s going to use blue on your bare skin again!”
“I’ll paint your body blue until you die,” stated Ezumachi with merciless eyes, “Color of Beauty!”
“Blue?” asked Kumagawa as he stood in his white t-shirt with an unworried grin on his face, “Unfortunately, you’ve run out of that color.” Ezumachi looked at the canister of blue paint he just picked up. It had been full just a moment ago, but now it was completely empty.
“What? Why?” stuttered Ezumachi, taking a step back, “Why aren’t you turning blue?”
“Look up at the sky, Ezumachi-kun” stated Kumagawa with a pleased grin still on his face.
“WHAT?! Impossible!” shouted Ezumachi as he realized the entire sky was a light red color, “I never used red!”
“It was the only way,” explained Kumagawa with a sinister grin, “Blue no longer exists, so the sky had to turn red.”
Ezumachi looked as if he had seen a ghost. In disbelief he repeated Kumagawa’s words, “Blue no longer exists… Do you mean that…”
Sukinasaki was as surprised as Ezumachi. She chimed in with a worried expression, “Kumagawa-kun, did you undo the existence of the color blue?”
“Yes…” replied Kumagawa simply as his grin widened. It was as if he didn’t care about any of the repercussions of what he was doing, “All Fiction. I removed the color blue from this world. No more blue skies or blue seas. No one will ever see blue again.”
“W-Wait…” said Ezumachi, clearly still sorting out what had just happened, “You removed the color blue from the entire world just to protect yourself? Do you realize how evil that is?!”
Kumagawa looked at him with an innocently blank smile, “Evil? It’s not my fault. And I’m not stopping with blue. Meaning that red never existed, either.”
Ezumachi, who had just reached for his canister of red paint, found only a small screw in his hand when he opened it up. “R-Red is… Red is gone!” he shouted as he looked up at the sky which had now turned into a yellowish green color, “What color will mean ‘stop’ now?!”
“Now this is art, Ezumachi-kun,” said Kumagawa in such an unbothered voice it almost felt mocking, “So how did you plan to use red as a weapon? I’m dying with curiosity.”
“Stop! Stop! Stop! Stop! Stop! Please Stop!!! Stop taking color away from the world,” he begged, “Don’t remove color’s existence from the world!”
“Come on, Ezumachi-kun…” said Kumagawa with an innocent face, “I never planned to go that far. I was only going to remove the twelve basic colors.” Kumagawa’s innocent grin quickly changed to a sadistic one that looked pleased at the way Ezumachi was squirming, “But if you expect me to go all the way, I must comply.”
“STOOOOOOOP!!!!” shouted Ezumachi as he lunged at Kumagawa.
But it was too late, “All Fiction…” stated Kumagawa as the world went colorless like a black and white manga. “No color exists anymore. Since color no longer exists, your skill in controlling colors doesn’t exist either. But don’t worry, while no color may remain, the color of the world’s panties are eternal!” As he said this, Sukinasaki held her skirt down to make sure Kumagawa could never sneak a peak somehow. Kumagawa was not very concerned with the consequences his actions were having, in fact, it was infuriating how nonchalant he was being about the whole ordeal, shifting the blame away from himself. “But as anticipated, you disappoint me. This won’t be enough to defeat Anshinin-san.”
“Anshinin-san? Who is that?” asked Ezumachi, clearly fighting back anger, “You want to defeat that person so much, you would remove color from this world?” Ezumachi drew one of his painting chisels and charged Kumagawa with malicious intent.
“Yes,” replied Kumagawa calmly, “To defeat her, I would be willing to change my eye color.”
“That’s bullshit!” shouted Ezumachi, rapidly closing in on Kumagawa, “What meaning is there in a world without color?!”
Just as he reached Kumagawa, dozens of screws shot up from the ground, skewering and impaling Ezumachi all over his body. Each of the metal screws measured around twelve feet in height and left massive holes in Ezumachi’s body, killing him as his outstretched hand held a chisel into Kumagawa’s eye.
“There never was any meaning. Color changes nothing. The world is meaningless. Humans are born with no purpose, live for no reason, and die for nothing because this world is pointless and our lives are aimless. Good job Ezumachi-kun, you hit a vital spot this time,” he said as blood dropped to the ground.
"So, you can finally chalk a victory on the board,” said Sukinasaki as her shark-like smile stretched past the boundary that her surgical mask covered, “Student council president, Kumagawa?”
“Well, now that everything in this world is white, the chalk would blend into the background, fade away and disappear. It would just go away,” explained Kumagawa as he stared at Ezumachi’s lifeless corpse.
“Meaning?” asked Sukinsaki, not seeing where Kumagawa was going with this.
“No matter how you spin it,” said Kumagawa as he turned to face his secretary with a painting chisel sticking out of his head and a smile still on his face, “I lose again.”
Anything else you'd like to add: My rp sample is a written retelling of a scene from the actual anime. I felt it would give a good example for how All Fiction actually works as well as the best view as to Kumagawa’s complicated personality.
