History: Blane had been born in a village that was meant to protect those who were in desperate need of aid and take on the most suicidal missions in three-four man squads with the age groups going as young as eighteen and were self-proclaimed Guardians. There those who were born in the village known as Taris went under rigorous training to master elements of nature around them . Every child that mastered a natural element then continued their training to become a soldier for the town, and Blane was one of the ones that became a soldier. Mastering three elements, fire, ice and lighting, Blane's training became even harder than the other Guardians. For the people of Taris gaining control of more than one element of nature meant that you were a destined to go on the most dangerous missions and that if not properly trained then you the very power that was mastered could lead to a Guardian's downfall. To master one element was easy to train, but more than one could leave a person in constant pain and in a state of unstableness. If the powers were never properly trained then the Guardian was a ticking time bomb that would self destruct.
It took Blane almost his entire childhood to master his three elements to their potential. At the age of eighteen the man was free of his training and was now considered both stable and an deadly weapon at the Guardian's disposal. The had chosen his two teammates for his squad, but by this time a new threat had risen to the land and were making their way to Taris.
The threat had already been investigated, but at a high price: the scouting parties, and attack parties of other Guardians had been defeated or a lone survivor made it only to die in the care of their brothers and sisters. Despite all the preparation that went into the counterattack against the impending battle against this mysterious trio of demons they were ambushed by the very demons they were aiming to stop. An all out battle commenced and the Guardians were being killed one by one by the incredible power of these three demons. No one was spared, a demon dressed in the fur of a white baboon (Naraku) manipulated his body to range attacks and slew anyone who fled the battle, men, women, children, no one was spared by the demented monster. Blane was instructed to run and protect his brother, yet the two were confronted by another demon from the trio that attacked: the Azure Knight. The brother tried to protect Blane as the two drew their weapons, but neither Blane or his brother had the defense strong enough to hold it against the weight and power of the knight and were flung into a burning building that collapsed on the two. Blane had been knocked out, and by the time he woke up the man found he lived in a nightmare. The sole survivor of the destruction of his home and family.
The man realized he had only survived the fire because of his brother: the boy had created an earth dome around the two that would've protected both of them, yet the man couldn't find his brother's body, it wasn't until Blane felt a sudden burst of darkness from his body he heard the voice of the Azure Knight within him. Blane was the new Azure Knight and alone to fight against the demon. The madness of being alone was enough to drive the man into the state of the Azure Knight the first time letting the demon take full control and kill hundreds if not thousands of demons and humans in one session of being controlled. When the man awoke he learned that it had been over a month since he had been in control of his body, and with a new body to get use to the demon could not completely manifest it's armor and fight at its full potential leaving Blane's face and new 'name' known to both demons and humans: the Azure Knight. For two years the man had lost himself becoming a cold, heartless, and spiritually dead soldier fighting for whoever paid the highest for his service and killed those without mercy only wishing to find someone to kill him and end the misery he was in.
At the begging of the third year Blane finally found a warrior worthy of his time that he was paid to get rid of: Aero the Dragon Warrior. At the time the boy was still learning his way around with his new powers and weapons, but the boy had lasted longer than anyone Blane had first faced. In exchange for attacking the man and allowing Aero to live Blane asked the man to help him on his travels and start looking for a new way to get rid of the demon that rested inside him. Months after recruiting the young dragon warrior Blane and Aero had both became swords for hire going town to town acting as exterminators, their only catch: only if the reason was just. However, during one of their missions the demon with Blane couldn't resist the power of the demon they were fighting, though it wasn't the one who killed the original Azure Knight the amount of power and energy that the soul of the demon gave off had reawakened the demon's soul after laying dormant for three years. Breaking free of the mental control Blane had the demon took control of the man's body, this time able to form armor around the body and changing the hair to blood red. The demon had become more adept to Blane's body and was stronger than before, the soul fusing with Blane's. The demonic swordsman easily killed the demon that he and Aero were sent to kill, yet after killing the demon the possessed Blane wanted Aero's soul as well.
With so much power, the dragon warrior was barely able to tame Blane's demon by encasing the man in ice and using it as a conductor for his lightning attack. Once the attack was finished Blane was free, exhausted, and confused about how Aero had similar attacks and attack patterns with his magic. It was then Blane learned that Aero had made a pact with the spirit dragon that was now with Aero, in exchange for the powers and abilities Aero now had the boy gave up his past life and any type of history as his old self and for that the man had copied the original moves of the most powerful person that Aero would meet, that person being Blane.
With secrets from both Aero and Blane exposed the two seemed to trust each other more, and life within the lone soldier seemed to revive. Blane began to act as a leader, and trainer with Aero, teaching the boy what he knew of combat and his specialty in close range combat with his daggers. The next year Aero and Blane were now one of the two most deadliest of brothers in combat, and both were known to now be hired for any places of where the most powerful priests and priestess lived. Yet, no matter how far, how many people treated Blane the Azure Knight had infused itself to Blane to the point if where the knight was removed Blane would die and become an abomination as the souls would haunt and destroy the land with the turmoil between Blane's soul and the Azure Knight's.
Stubborn and not wanting to quit the two continued to search for answers and then came across an extremely deadly swordsman by accident. The man appeared to have no unique magic yet was able to hold his own against both Blane and Aero at once, both using their most powerful attacks, but it seemed that no matter how many times they struck this swordsman down he just got back up angrier and stronger than before. It wasn't until the men had destroyed the swordsman chest plate that they saw that every wound that they had given to the man was instantly healed and good as new. The adrenaline was all the swordsman needed to increase his attack power and that alone impressed Blane and Aero. Thinking the fight was going to continue the two charged towards the swordsman only to hear a scream from a nearby village, and that alone got the swordsman to charge full speed to the village and save it, seeing that the place was under attack by a rampaging demon the two joined the swordsman.
The demon was powerful and could've easily overpowered the swordsman, but combined with Aero and Blane the three easily overpowered the demon and killed the demon with ease. After the battle the three swordsmen learned that the man they had been fighting was known as Caime the Immortal Swordsman. The man that now sat in front of the two men was the original Caime's son. He had taken the name of the great man and inherited some of the powers that the father had and a blessing from his aunt known as Furiea who was the goddess of peace during her brother's time in the world. The new Caime carried the name Caime in honor of his father and his aunt, yet the man had long since given up on believing in something other than his fighting abilities after holding his mother in his arms as she died. The man didn't wish for revenge, nor did he want to leave the village that took him in after his family died, but after fighting with Blane and Aero and learning that there were other things in the world that could easily overpower him, especially with technology changing the way wars were fought the man nodded in agreement to allow himself to leave his new home and allow them to be exposed to the outside world, meaning wherever they went Caime spread the word of a village that was perfect for farming, and trading and in due time the village prospered with others.
Two years after traveling with Blane and Aero Caime had become the father figure of the three and made sure to keep the two from butting heads or getting off the mission at hand, but one thing that concerned Blane was at how easily Caime was able to pick up on problems that rested with Blane, it seemed the longer the Immortal Swordsman traveled with Blane he learned of tell signs when he was going to lose control to the demon, it was during those times that Caime lead the team to areas where the most twisted and sick demons and humans were most prosperous and demanding thus killing two birds with one stone: rid the world of demented people and keep Blane's curse in check with a plentiful supply of souls.
However, on the seventh year of being with his new team there wasn't any nearby problems for Caime or Aero to find and it was then that the two friends saw their mentor and leader lose control and see the Azure Knight in full power. The man easily overpowered Caime and Aero having fighting and teaching them their fighting tactics. After defeating Aero and Caime to the point of near death the demonic warrior went to a nearby village and went on a killing spree, killing humans, demons, animals, anything with a soul and will to fight. The entire village was slaughtered and there were no survivors, except for the two that now stood before Blane: Aero and Caime.
Seeing his two brother in arms brought back all the memories he had with them and stunned the man long enough for the two swordsmen to knock Blane out and temporarily free him of the curse. As the man awoke to see the carnage around him, and his sword covered in blood Blane knew the short life of peace and being 'alive' again was time to end. With that in mind he lead Caime and Aero to a place where only the three of them would know: a spot near a crystal village. The resting spot of where Blane had buried the weapons of his brother who died protecting him. Before the two friends could object both were trapped in ice and put into a temporary coma meant to last for half a year. Enough time for Blane to get as far away from the world and from his friends. Were it not for Caime's healing ability both him and Aero would've been dead, and with more blood on the man's hands Blane left his friends and went into hiding. Yet, there he couldn't shake his past it still haunted him every night when his demon tried to break free of the mental restraints that Blane had been trying to create by using the memories of the people he killed and her to remind him of the terror he caused. It was there on the begging of the eighth year, a storm rolled in and a burst of lightning struck Blane while he struggled yet again with his demon. There Blane's most powerful and destructive magic 'lightning' was unleashed engulfing the man in a type of blue light calming the demon for dominance.
It was unclear of what had happened to Blane on that day, but it was clear that the Guardian's hadn't forgotten about the sole survivor. With Blane's encounter with the nature's own power he was given the memories of his tribe and remembered why he was left to fight in their name: to protect those that needed it. However, he knew he couldn't do it alone and the blue lightning that struck him was his spirit calling for help and it was answered by the souls of the Guardians before him. Like all great things though, it was unclear of how Blane could be free of the curse all he knew was that his fallen brethren had given him more time to resist the complete take over of the Azure Knight. Days later the man came across a new disciple: a boy tainted by the darkness.
[Time as an NPC on ACR]
When Blane came across Corruption it had been after he had been freed from the Azure Knight for a brief time. He could sense that this boy was a corrupted soul much like himself. The difference between Blane and this boy was that it was far too late for Blane to do much for the boy since the poor soul had been completely tainted by the darkness to the point of not being able to anything at the time. Yet, despite the set back that laid before him Blane decided to take it upon himself once again to train a new warrior and protect him as much as he could from going further into the darkness. This type of training for his new disciple was different though: no combat.
Blane didn't want Corruption, as the child named himself, to want to continuously fight, but instead stay in the shadows and gather information and learn of what was going on. The boy was more unstable in the darkness that was in control of the boy and Blane had seen and been all too familiar with being unstable with the darkness, so whenever the boy felt the need to fight Blane challenged the boy forced him to the point of exhaustion to free the boy of his urge to fight. One thing Blane noticed though that so long as he was close to the boy Corruption would obey with no problems, it was when the boy was out of Blane's reach that Corruption had a hard time of obeying orders. Blane took note of that during the invasion in London and regretted letting the boy run rampant for a while for if he had not told the boy to retreat while in his unstable and somewhat disobedient way Blane would've exposed himself to the world and been noticed by all. A case he didn't want just yet.
After failing his test Corruption was forced to stay within Blane's control as to keep the boy in check and be sure that nothing like that happened again. The boy was still young, and too inexperienced in combat to go against anyone. It was during this time of hiding that the two came across an old brethren of Blane's Aero. As happy as the two old swordsmen were happy to meet each other Blane could tell that much had happened to Aero and that whatever happened it wasn't something that the man would agree with, but Aero was now thinking for himself and merely came to see how his old mentor was doing. Aero learned that Blane may had been free of the curse, but the dragon warrior knew it was only temporary and that Corruption was the only one who could help keep his mentor in check while the dragon warrior worked for Vesta. Though the meeting was brief Blane could tell that Aero had more going on that he wasn't telling, but as for what it was Blane didn't care so long as Aero stayed out of trouble. What troubled Blane though was the disappearance of Caime, yet if nothing good or bad was coming from Caime then for Blane it only meant that the Immortal Swordsman was alive and in hiding of his own.
During his time of hiding Blane continued to train Corruption in the art of staying hidden, and eventually gave in and began to teach the boy a few tricks for combat, but all was for Corruption's protection were the man not around to save the boy. Even if it was just the basics, it was certainly better than the boy just going around swinging his keyblade like a madman. Yet, the time came for Blane to let Corruption fight his own battles and learn what to do on his own. Corruption seemed to be stable, yet the whole time around the boy Blane not once felt like he was going to become a demon. Blane could feel his body was reacting to something strong in the land and whatever it was it was calling out to the man and before Blane could attempt to send Corruption off to find Aero the man was engulfed in blue lightning and taken far away from the boy abandoning Corruption.
When the man awoke he found himself at Headless Plateau where he could feel his demon starting to try and break free for control of his body, it was now or never and the man was running out of options for this would be the time where Blane would either fight off his demon for another time of peace or become the full blooded Azure Knight. The swordsman picked fight for another day and allowed his powers to run free. Ice, fire, and lightning erupted from his body as the demon tried to engulf the body for its own use, yet as Blane's powers ran rampant familiar voice called out to the man and caused Blane to open his eyes and see someone who he believed to be dead: Caime.
The Immortal Swordsman engaged the powers that erupted from Blane's body and forced the man to fight him to calm his powers. The sword that Blane wielded then started to act as an outlet letting loose the raw power Blane wanted to use to hold back the demon all while his blood rage for souls as the Azure Knight fueled his adrenaline to fight Caime. The fight seemed to last for years, but ended in a week. Both were exhausted, but Blane had fully recovered and his lust for souls had subsided as he came back to his senses. Caime had the silver lining that Blane had been searching for for seven years. A forbidden technique that Caime found in his travels after awakening from his coma that only one with limitless power could control and that was Blane, a powerful technique that Caim's father had locked away in a spot where only his son would know where to find it and now Caime was giving the move to Blane. The technique of 500 Souls of Vengeance. The move was to free one's soul of corruption or be used as a last resort in killing an unstoppable foe and the payment was the soul of the one who casted the technique.
Though the move was deviating to both sides Blane knew what Caime was aiming at: sacrifice the Azure Knight's soul to be free. Even if Blane would have some taint of the Azure Knight still it was better than having the soul of the demon. Blane happily took the technique, but before Blane could attempt to use the move on an adversary Caime informed Blane that times had changed since the two of them left Aero. Reports, even though it was old, of an attack on Tokyo with a fight between 2-8 men on rooftops some appearing to be copies of another. The two knew only one person at the time who could make copies and that was Aero. Caime accidentally found an old newspaper of his friend and held on to it to inform Blane, and when Blane learned of this the swordsman remembered that Aero was now free for himself and that whatever was going on for the man to be doing such dangerous things Aero would need a trump card and an upgrade.
Blane and Caime went to work on preparing the armor and Dragon's Claw that Aero would use in combat. The preparation for Aero's final test and new armor took three weeks, but it was ready. Caime took his leave from Blane telling his old friend to call when needed, but until then Caime would watch over Blane's old home: Taris the Crystal Village of Guardians.
When Blane felt that he was back to his full power the man summoned Aero with his lightning. The two met at Headless Plateau for the final fight. There the two were pushed to the limits, just from the fight alone Blane could see that Aero had been hiding something from him and that was Aero's split personality. Blane forced Aero into his corrupted side and to both the men's surprise a shadow dragon similar to Aero's corrupted side took over. It was then Blane forced himself to summon the Azure Knight and as the demon began to take over he and the corrupted side of Aero engaged for the last move: 500 Souls of Vengeance. Blane sent the Azure Knight's soul in place of his knowing that the darker side of Aero would copy his move. His plan worked: without knowing it the shadow dragon had sacrificed its own soul from Aero and his spirit dragon. The match ended and Blane was free from the Azure Knight, Aero now free of a lingering soul that had been hidden from some time. The move serving it's purpose and now in Aero's arsenal Blane passed on Caime's and his gifts to Aero. The man took his leave from Aero promising to be sure that if Aero needed help the former leader would assist.
Something bothered Blane though, as he left Aero he saw that the land around him was becoming tainted and ruined by powerful forces. Blane thought he could live his life in peace before dying but it seemed that his fate lied someplace else. As Blane made his way to Demon's Forest he could feel that even with his demon soul gone his urge to fight was not yet settled. The man began to train once more in hopes of calming his urges, and his time in hiding and training for two months revealed that the urges weren't from his demon side, but from what his soul was screaming: fight for the weak once more. When that message became clear Blane intensified his training to master his elements and become even stronger.
After three weeks the man could feel that his emotions that clung to the past clouded his judgement, and that was what at times caused the man to fear his time for sleep when he was possessed by the Azure Knight. The man went through his own emotional struggle using his powers as a way to relieve his pain and regret. It was during his struggle the man found the root of his fears. Blane had never gotten over the death of his home, family, and above all his brother. He felt it was his fault that they all died, that his brother died and at that moment he unlocked his full potential. The man's powers manifested around his body in their own way to protect him.
Fire engulfed his sword, lightning circled his body, and ice took the form of wings around his body. Even free of the demon though his powers had adapted to the after effects of being part of the Azure Knight for so long, his right eye red and right wing black as night signifying that the man was now the perfect combination of light and dark. Now free of his demon and free of his past Blane journeys to Central City to learn more of what has changed since his absence and to discover what has become of his friend Aero.
Personality: Once cold and to the point with his friends and people who asked for help, Blane now is more open and jokes a bit to lighten the mood when he sees fit.
The man may be past his time for using his sword and has a gentleman's code that he be as polite to the women as possible, unless they pose a threat.
Has found that he likes to try and challenge himself in verbal comebacks after fighting Aero in times of combat, but if he were to go against a cold killer the man will revert to his old ruthless self and focus only on the target.
When alone the man will keep to himself and at times appear unapproachable, but he keeps his face relaxed and calm for those who wish to approach him.
Attacks:
Element: Blane's sword was forged with a drop of his blood therefore has a unique ability: weaker spells that are casted at Blane do less damage if he blocks the attack and the weapon will only cast spells from it from Blane himself. Anyone else who tries it will not work and will be an ordinary weapon.
Full Power: Much like all who entered a powered up state, and still new Blane has little experience in this form using it only as a last resort. The form uses all of his stamina and depending on how he uses his powers the form can last from five minutes (if using his powers) to twenty (so long as he sticks to close range combat). Can not use any of his special attacks in combat yet while in this form.
Demonic Eye: When in full power mode Blane's right eye is able to track the blood of those who are injured. Though rarely used Blane will only use this power if he's in dark places. The drawback: his eye glows faintly like a candle in the darkness.
Lightning, Fire, Ice: All powers are amplified x10, however are slower and require Blane to have his eyes on the target. It's rare that Blane will use his powers while in full form and will do his best to keep in close range to use his sword.
Normal Mode:
Lightning Strike: Blane's favorite attack which in involves covering his sword in lightning and sending it like a beam at his opponents. Very reckless with this move for if he's ever in a stalemate with someone he'll use the attack which will cause damage to both users since both are in extremely close range.
Explosion: Blane's main opening attack that involves fire. Digs his sword into the ground and swings it with such force that it creates a shockwave that's to make the opponent lose balance then be engulfed in flames. If the ground is weak and creates a bit by chance it almost guarantees an instant kill. WILL NOT WORK IF BLANE CAN NOT GET HIS SWORD THROUGH THE SURFACE AND PREFERS TO BE ON A DIRT FIELD FOR THIS ABILITY. (Max range for effectiveness: 400 meters)
Ice Needles: Meant for dwindling numbers or just trying to hit someone who's small and fast this attack is Blane's only real range attack. Swings sword while covered in ice, however it takes Blane half a second to cover his blade in ice if it isn't already leaving him open for attacks.
Suicide: Used as a last resort if without his sword and the opponent is literally up close to Blane the man will call a powerful bolt of lightning to strike him and the opponent. He will survive but unable to move for three minutes.
Fire, Lightning, Ice: All spells can be casted from his hands or sword, however each spell takes half a second to engulf the weapon and requires Blane to focus on that one SPECIFIC power for his weapon to be engulfed in that power. Once engulfed the weapon will have the attributes of that power until Blane calls another or uses one of his specials.
Friends/Family:
Brother: dead, honors the memory of his brother by pretending to hold a shield in his free hand at the start of combat.
Aero: Friend, unaware of Aero's alliance to Dyre/Vesta
Caime: Alive and watching over small towns that are away from the action
Corruption: Friend/disciple, now in the care of Tifa
RP Sample: With Aero on his own with a deadly move and Blane free of the curse he looked to his hands then to the sky, "How much longer til the day comes where i can close my eyes and join you brother? I know i should continue to live, but i hate keeping you waiting." The swordsman sighed as he looked at his clothes then remembered Corruption, "I'd best get some new clothes and find either Aero or Corruption. If Corruption is in good hands then the boy is no threat, but he at least deserves an explanation as to why i left. Do need a new set of clothes though...." with that the man took his leave to Central City. "Who's the new threat now i wonder?"
