Name: S
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Anime: Death Note
Canon?: No
Appearance:
Weapons: S has collected a variety of different firearms over the years, but tends to favor a magnum to have on his person at all times. He may also carry a small 6 inch switchblade at times for protection.
He also carries a Death Note, but, as a matter of principle, will not use it unless the situation is incredibly dire, seeing it as an unnatural weapon.
History: Even as a child, S was unusually intelligent. He solved his first Rubix Cube at the age of four. His mind was sharp and his eye was keen. In school he was top of his class, without expending much effort, and he dropped out of school during Secondary, as he grew bored with the system. He needed money, however, knowing he could not depend on his parents to support him forever.
This was when he became acquainted with the name “L”. The world class investigator had taken a case in the area, and S found out about him through his father, who worked with the police. S decided to see just how good L really was, and tried to solve the case faster. He felt that with his superior knowledge of the nearby area, he could easily solve this case first. As if to challenge L, he sent out messages to the detective with his own symbol. An “S” in the Old English font, and called himself by that name. He openly challenged L to see who could solve the case first.
Twelve homicides had occurred in a nearby city. The police had gained little ground on the case and were floundering. There seemed to be no pattern in those targeted, there was no trace of DNA on the victims. The only clue was that they’d died of knife wounds. L, however, was cutting to the chase very quickly. S was barely able to stay on the older detectives heels. Although the fact he was even able to do this was, in, and of itself an accomplishment. S lost his contest stupendously. Not only did L find the criminal first, but he figured out who S was as well. S grudgingly conceded to L’s superior skills, but received a recommendation to the police from the detective himself, to work on lesser cases in his absence. To hear this from one who had bested him, S felt honored.
However, there had been one thing that everyone had missed, and a case that S had to solve alone. L would have to deal with a similar case. One L lost. S was fortunate however. His foe was not Light Yagami, a.k.a. Kira.
The criminal who had been arrested died of a heart attack not even two days after his arrest. A relatively fit man in his twenties dying of a heart attack? In itself, this could be passed off as an unusual coincidence. However, it was found that eleven other criminals had been found dead of a heart attack elsewhere in the city around this time. In the same location. Covered in the blood of eleven of the other victims.
S realized that there was some other force behind this, and worked hard to find the criminal mastermind who had orchestrated this, in secret. He did not broadcast his search, and this was likely the reason he had survived. After a long chase of three months, he finally tracked down the man responsible, and had him arrested. However, the Death Note had been found on his person. S decided to keep it secret; informing the police it was nothing that could be used to convict the man in court. He understood that the defense could easily use the idea of a notebook killing people as a powerful defense. The prosecution could work more easily this way.
However, since the discovery of the notebook, S has been aware of the existence of shinigami. The previous owner of the notebook, however, had died, and therefore, S has never yet met a shinigami himself. Hearing of the Kira case in Japan, S traveled to the country from Europe to investigate freelance. He figured that a Death Note was likely involved, and wanted to assist L as best he could in the investigation.
Personality: S is a reclusive sort of fellow and not very social. As such, his social graces are less than impressive, and it is not uncommon for him to inadvertantly insult someone whom he is speaking with. S very much believes in "The ends justify the means" and will not hesitate to operate peacefully with a criminal in order to catch a more dangerous one.
Because of his high intelligence, S can occasionally be condescending to people who do not process information (and reach a conclusion) as quickly as himself. However, he still respects his allies for their talents, and will often tell them so, to reassure them he does not see them as useless.
S is slightly more bold than L, and when given a promising lead, he will often go in person to deal with it, though he will often use videos, computers and secure chatlines to communicate with his comrades for a case. He is also extremely competitive, determined to win at any cost, even if it means sacrificing lives to do so, provided more lives would be saved than sacrificed this way. While not as paranoid as his predecessors, S likes to stay on his toes at all times, and rarely sleeps. Though he prefers to operate alone, he will often use others to run errands, or to act as his arms and legs.
Attacks: S has no attacks. He has recieved a moderate amount of training in Krav Maga, but is no expert even by normal human standards and would stand no chance in a fistfight with a "super." or even a Badass Normal. He is, however quite a decent shot with any of his small firearms.
IQ: S is a genius of the highest calibur, his mind able to process information on the level of even such minds as L or Kira. His mind is his greatest weapon.
Friends/Family: His parents are still alive and well.
